Armstrong wanted a web based tool that would allow architects and interior designers to visualize and get details on the millions of ceiling tile and wall systems options that are available. The challenge was providing an easy 3 step process for the end user to explore this huge catalog of styles, patterns, colors and materials.
After consulting with various internal stakeholders, as well as our own assembled panel of architects and designers, we presented a three part solution: A robust flash interface, an extensible Java backend with administration features and Scene7 image server. Scene7 was utilized for image resizing, compositing and providing different views of each tile. The end result – a true web application that provides the rich, dynamic interaction that users typically expect from desktop apps.
