The Lead (or Senior) Experience Designer is responsible for leading multiple consulting engagements by defining and implementing project strategies, including stakeholder workshop sessions, customer and user research, competitive analysis, design concepting, detailed design, and usability testing. You may also be responsible for directing and overseeing other experience designers in the implementation of project activities and deliverables. Additionally, you will play an active and important role in helping Archer develop new methods for improving the experience of our clients’ customers.

Responsibilities
You will be expected to:
- Develop an approach, which fits each client’s unique needs, timeline and budget, while maximizing the end-customer experience.
- Define business and customer requirements by facilitating workshops with clients.
- Determine and prioritize customer research needs to drive research strategies, including, but not limited to, competitive analysis, interviews, focus groups, field studies, surveys, card sorting, online research, lab and remote usability testing, and eye tracking.
- Communicate business, customer, and product requirements using personas, scenarios, storyboards, features and functions prioritization, competitive analysis, and other methods for informing product strategy.
- Collaborate with customers, client services, creative and technology to translate customer insights and product strategies into design concepts via whiteboarding sessions, paper prototyping, and using other digital, rapid prototyping tools for web and mobile sites and applications.
- Act as the user-advocate during the design and development process, subjecting early-stage development artifacts to expert review and/or usability testing, and providing design and implementation direction from a user-centered perspective.
- Document experience design strategies as well as the detailed design deliverables, including, but not limited to, site maps, wireframes, and functional specifications.
- Continually explore opportunities to enhance and expand Archer’s methodologies and service offerings, especially in the design of holistic customer experiences where every customer interaction becomes an opportunity for improvement.
- Champion the experience design practice and UCD principles inside our organization and to our clients.
- Represent Archer’s Research & Experience Design to the industry; speak at industry events and publish thought leadership materials (e.g., conferences, company events, blog, Twitter account).

Education/Experience
A Bachelor’s degree in a behavioral science or closely related discipline such as Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Psychology (Cognitive or Experimental), Interface Design, or Computer Science; and three to five years of relevant work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. A Master’s degree in a related field is a plus.

You must have the demonstrated capacity to:
- Develop an overall plan and approach to specific projects with minimal input from clients, and adapt those plans as needed based on timeline and budget constraints.
- Lead stakeholder workshops to elicit customer requirements and gain consensus on them.
- Design and conduct customer research using a broad array of methodologies and tools, including guerilla research and usability testing.
- Conduct collaborative work sessions with multi-disciplinary teams and client representatives.
- Produce clear and compelling work artifacts demonstrating information architecture, interaction design and usability recommendations.
- Effectively communicate findings and recommendations to creative, technical and client services personnel and client team members.
- Understand and design for different platforms (web, mobile, tablet, kiosks).
- Complete multiple tasks and projects within deadlines.
- Direct, inspire, and mentor other team members.
Other skills and qualifications that are desired:
- Business strategy, business process analysis.
- Project scoping and estimation techniques.
- Survey methodologies and market research best practices, as well as an understanding of web analytics and log file analysis and related software products (e.g., WebTrends, ClickTracks, Omniture).
- Requirements development and analysis, use case modeling, requirements change-tracking and control.
- Internet best practices across major verticals.

Travel
You should be willing to travel locally for client calls and work off-site as needed. You will be expected to travel in support of sales and marketing efforts, and to participate in on-site client pitches as necessary. You may be expected to travel outside the local area to attend and present at conferences, as well as participate in training events.
