Most of my friends interning this spring semester envy my intern experience at The Archer Group. While they were making coffee and running errands, I had an intern experience that was extraordinary.

The tasks I was given to complete were enjoyable and practical. How many interns can actually say that? It was extremely rewarding to see my hard work be incorporated into various projects such as Wawa Cold Beverage, Wild Oceans, and Chase.

I have had previous internship experiences before my time at Archer and I can say that this opportunity has been by far the most rewarding. The team gave me more responsibility than other companies would even consider such as working on client projects.

The work environment at Archer is one of a kind. There is a keg in the office and the conference table becomes a pool table; I kid you not! The balance of socialization and work is what makes the environment so enjoyable. Everyone I have met is extremely helpful and works hard to deliver their best work. Todd Miller and Mike Derins were my two supervisors throughout my interning experience. They offered a lot of their time to make me feel comfortable and gave me the tools to make the most of my internship.

My internship experience consisted of working with both the creative team and the project management team. While working with the creative team I furthered my skills using Adobe Photoshop. I saw ideas on paper become websites and interactive applications. While working with the project management team, I was able to see the life of a project from start to finish. I also sat in on brainstorming and collaborative meetings that have highlighted Archer’s mission and objectives. I worked on copy documents, observed photo shoots, researched competitor applications, and worked with summary of work documents.

Before I started interning with The Archer-Group I was unsure as to what direction I wanted to take after graduation. After my experience, I can say that advertising is what I hope to pursue. I have also learned what kind of company I want to work for; a company where there are no egos and everyone works together to make “magic” happen.

The Archer Group is a growing company that I know will continue to be extremely successful. It is an honor to say that I interned for an organization like The Archer Group. A few quick pointers and suggestions for all you future interns: 1. The second floor is the place to sit. The view, well if you can really call it a view, is the city street of Wilmington. There is nothing more entertaining or interesting. 2. If you sit in the near vicinity of Chris Bennett brace yourself mentally and physically. 3. If you haven’t become addicted to soda, you will. 4. Learn as much as you possibly can from the people around you. You will never meet a more creative group of people.

Working with Archer was a great experience and I must say, I enjoyed it maybe more than I should have, considering I was an intern and all. :o ]
