Archer Helps Komen Philly Go Mobile The Susan G. Komen for the Cure Philadelphia Affiliate was looking to raise awareness of local healthcare and support resources, promote participation in its many programs and events, and engage its young audiences (teens and young professionals). The Affiliate partnered with Archer to create the Komen Philly mobile application for iPhone and Android.
Archer’s user experience, design, and development teams worked together to create the ideal mobile experience for Komen Philly enthusiasts on the go. Archer also optimized the experience on both iPhone and Android, two separate platforms with notable differences.
Since Komen Philly’s core audience consists of supporters who lead busy lives, convenience is essential to increasing participation in events and overall awareness of the Komen Philly mission. The app’s four main sections – News & Events, Resources, Get Involved, and About – make it easy for users to quickly navigate to the information they’re seeking.
“News & Events” provides all the latest news and upcoming events happening at the Philadelphia Affiliate. Users can add individual events to their calendars and receive event reminders and other push notifications on their phones.
The “Get Involved” section provides helpful information and contact details to users interested in volunteer work, internships, and social events. This section also allows users to connect with Komen Philly on Facebook and Twitter.
The app’s “Resources” section is perhaps its most unique offering, providing helpful information that cannot yet be found anywhere else online. Now, with the tap of a finger, users in the Philadelphia area can find breast cancer services and support close to home. In addition, the app lists all organizations in Komen Philly’s service area that receive grants from the Affiliate, as well as the services each provides and statistics on how their grants are used. By providing such insight, the “Resources” section gets right to the heart of how all the charitable donations reach the support services that need them.
